The Last Seven — Wk. 33

Moved
A lighter movement week with two lifts and ~36 miles total. I’m feeling great and proud of the running consistency I’ve built over the last 10 weeks. Official training for the 2026 Houston Marathon kicks off in four weeks and I’m looking forward to the structure it will provide.

Family
My mom turned 50 this week and we had a nice conversation on FaceTime. I’m looking forward to seeing her later this year and spending quality time together in Philadelphia.
I also spent time with my wife and mother-in-law while she was in town. We took a day trip to Fredericksburg, TX, and later went on a Bat Tour on Lady Bird Lake in Austin.

Visited
Stopped at Signor and Slate Theory in Fredericksburg. Slate’s cellar took three years to build — an incredible space and one of the top experiences I’ve had in the town. I’ll be returning next time.

Read
I came across an article about how our free time is often conscripted into the service of work. It was a mirror to my own behavior outside of my day job and made me think about my relationship — or lack thereof — with leisure.
Noted
I’ve been thinking about how I no longer want to be admired for what I do. I want to be respected for who I am. It feels like a shift from external proof to internal power.
Listened
A classic: Appetite for Destruction by Guns N’ Roses. One of those albums I can always listen to front to back.
On to the next seven.
