A shorter training week as I get ready for vacation — 36 miles in total. My good friend and training partner, Alvaro, signed up for the Houston Marathon, and we’re set to officially kick off training on September 1st. I’m excited to train alongside someone this time, since my first marathon block was a solo pursuit. The goal is to put in a strong effort, enjoy the process, and let the result be what it is.

I’m looking forward to my little sister visiting in September. I miss her and can’t wait to spend time together — I haven’t seen her since my wedding last August.

I came across an article noting that the U.S. drinking rate is at a new low, especially among younger generations. Overall, that feels like a positive shift, though I hope it doesn’t mean people are socializing less. We’re more connected than ever, yet lonelier than we’ve ever been.
I also picked up a new book, Julia — a retelling of 1984 from Julia’s perspective. Since 1984 is one of my favorites, I’m excited to see how this story reframes the world Orwell created.

I've officially paid off my car, which is an amazing feeling. One less thing to worry about, and one more step toward a simpler life.

I’ve been diving into disco and funk lately and recently discovered the old-school group Shalamar. Their track The Second Time Around has been on repeat.
I love that post-disco R&B era (1978–1984), when funk, soul, and disco fused into what later became modern R&B.
On to the next seven.
